RACE REPORT - MXGP of Turkey, Afyonkarahisar
Jeremy Seewer Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Pilot zeigte bei der 17. Runde der FIM Motocross-Weltmeisterschaft in Afyonkarahisar, Türkei sein Bestes, um nach einem turbulenten Renntag noch Punkte zu sammeln. Seewer musste sich im 2.Renenn von einem schweren Sturz erholen und wurde gesamt Achter.
Zum ersten Mal in dieser Saison konnte aufgrund des schlechten Wetters kein Qualifying-Race durchgeführt werden. Innert Minuten stürmte es so heftig, dass die halbe Strecke unter Wasser stand und es für die MXGP-Piloten nicht mehr möglich war darauf zu fahren. Die Wetterprognose für Sonntag war um einiges besser und zeigte keine erneuten Unwetter mehr an. Trotzdem hatte die Streckencrew viel zu tun, um die Strecke für einen Action geladenen Grand Prix vorzubereiten.
ERSTES RENNEN:
Zum Auftakt des ersten Rennens, gelang Seewer einen guten Start, er kam auf der 5.Position aus der ersten Kurve. Leider stürzte er zwei Kurven später durch einen anderen Piloten und musste das Rennen auf dem 17. Platz neu aufnehmen. Er kämpfte sich Platz um Platz nach vorne, es gelang ihm auf der Achten Position die Ziellinie zu überqueren.
ZWEITES RENNEN:
Die Nr. «91» kam erneut gut aus dem Gatter. Stürzte dann leider spektakulär in der ersten Kurve. Dabei hatte er grosses Glück sich nicht schwerer Verletzt zu haben. Wieder musste Seewer hart für eine bessere Platzierung arbeiten. Von Platz 18. Kämpfte er sich Platz um Platz nach vorne. In Runde Sieben lieferte Jeremy sich einen spannenden Kampf mit Prado und Guillod. Zum Schluss des Rennens gelang es Jeremy ganze acht Plätze gut zu machen und sicherte sich den 10. Platz.
PLATZIERUNG:
Seewer bleibt mit 676 Punkten weiterhin auf dem 3.Gesamtrang.
NÄCHSTER EVENT:
Das Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team freut sich nun auf die vorletzte Runde der Saison, die am Wochenende des 17. September in Maggiora, Italien, stattfinden wird.
AFTER RACE TALK:
"Ich habe mich hier sehr wohl gefühlt und obwohl es heute nach dem Regen ein wenig anders war, hat mir die Strecke gefallen. Es war technisch anspruchsvoller. Allerdings war es dadurch sehr einspurig und wir fuhren alle das gleiche Tempo. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass ich heute gut gefahren bin. Im ersten Rennen hatte ich einen guten Start, wurde aber in der 3.Kurve von einem anderen Fahrer überholt. In Rennen zwei stürzte ich nach dem Start und musste das Feld von hintern aufholen. Es ist schwierig, hier die anderen Fahrer zu überholen. Ich glaube wirklich, wenn ich so gefahren wäre wie heute, ohne die Probleme, hätte ich um den Sieg gekämpft. Am Ende des Tages, nach dem Sturz in Rennen zwei, muss ich froh sein, dass ich heil von hier weggekommen bin, denn es war ein wirklich heftiger Abflug, und ich wurde auch von vielen Fahrern überrollt, aber trotzdem habe ich es geschafft, Punkte zu holen und beide Rennen zu beenden. Jetzt werde ich mich neu formieren und bereit sein, bei den nächsten beiden GP's gute Ergebnisse zu erzielen."
Jeremy Seewer Monster Energy Yamaha Factory rider showed his best at the 17th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Afyonkarahisar to score points after a turbulent day of racing. Seewer had to recover from a heavy crash in the 2nd race and finished eighth overall.
For the first time this season, a qualifying race could not be held due to bad weather. Within minutes it stormed so hard that half the track was under water and it was no longer possible for the MXGP riders to ride on it. The weather forecast for Sunday was much better and showed no more storms. Nevertheless, the track crew had a lot to do to prepare the track for an action-packed Grand Prix.
RACE ONE:
At the start of the first race, Seewer managed a good start, he came out of the first corner in 5th position. Unfortunately, he crashed two turns later by another pilot and had to restart the race in 17th position. He fought his way forward place by place, he managed to cross the finish line in eighth position.
RACE TWO: No. "91" again came out of the gate well. Then unfortunately fell spectacularly in the first curve. He was very lucky not to have been seriously injured. Again Seewer had to work hard for a better placement. From 18th place he fought his way forward place by place. In lap seven Jeremy had an exciting fight with Prado and Guillod. At the end of the race Jeremy managed to make up a whole eight places and secured 10th place.
STANDINGS: Seewer remains in 3rd place overall with 676 points.
NEXT EVENT: The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team is now looking forward to the penultimate round of the season, which will take place in Maggiora, Italy, on the weekend of September 17.
AFTER RACE TALK: "I felt very comfortable here and although it was a little different today after the rain than the day before, I liked it because it was more technical. However, it was very single-track because of that and we were all riding the same pace. I feel like I did well today, in race one I had a good start but got passed by another rider in turn 3. In race two I crashed after the start and had to catch up the field from behind. It's difficult to overtake the other riders here, but I had a good ride. I really think if I had driven like I did today, without the problems, I would have been fighting for the win. At the end of the day, after the crash in race two, I have to be happy that I got out of here in one piece, because it was a really violent crash and I also got run over by a lot of riders, but I still managed to get points and finish both races. Now I'll regroup and be ready to get some good results in the next two GPs."
