Race Report MXGP England

Zum Saison-Auftakt beim MXGP of Grat Britain auf der spektakulären Strecke in Matterley Basin konnte Seewer wichtige WM-Punkte sichern. Die Strecke bot herausfordernde Bedingungen die durch starken Regen und Windböen in den Tagen zuvor zu bewältigen waren.

Im Eröffnungsrennen schoss Seewer aus dem Gate und konnte sich direkt den Holeshot sichern.

Bevor er in Runde 2 von Jeffrey Herlings und Mitch Evans überholt wurde und nun Platz 3 belegte. Als noch 12 Minuten zu absolvieren waren, legte Seewer einen Gang zu und überholte Evans souverän. Durch einen optimalen Rhythmus trotz tiefen Spurrillen und Löchern, die für den Fahrer wie dessen Bike eine echte Herausforderung darstellten, gelang es Seewer das Ziel als zweit platzierter zu erreichen mit einem Wahnsinns Vorsprung von 11 Sekunden auf den 3. Platzierten Evans Mitchell.

RACE TWO: Die Hinterradbremse wurde bei einer Kollision mit Clement Desalle in Kurve zwei beschädigt. Obwohl es nicht einfach war, das Bike ohne Hinterradbremse auf der ausgefahrenen Strecke zu fahren, fuhr die Nummer 91 entschlossen. Es gelang ihm den 2.Lauf auf Platz 8 zu beenden.

Nach zwei dramatischen und geistig herausfordernden Rennen war Seewer enttäuscht, das Podium um nur 3 Punkte verpasst zu haben. Mit dem Wissen, dass noch 38 weitere Rennen ausgetragen werden und noch alles offensteht, war Seewer mit seinem 6.Platz in der MXGP-Meisterschaftswertung zufrieden.

Bereits am kommenden Wochenende am 8.März geht es für Seewer weiter, wichtige Punkte zu sammeln beim MXGP of Niederlande in Valkenswaard.

The spectacular Matterley Basin circuit that hosted the first Grand Prix of the 20 round series, presented challenging conditions after torrential rain and high-speed winds drenched and battered the venue only days prior.

As a result of the weather, Infront Moto Racing, the series promoters revised the program on Saturday 29th February, and only allowed time for one practice session out on track. With limited time to set-up the bikes and ease back into racing, all three riders felt the opening Grand Prix was a strange affair, especially with the horrid weather contributing to the challenging nature of the usually fast-paced and jumpy venue.

RACE ONE…

In the opening race, Seewer burst out of the gate and led the way around turn-one before being nudged back to third on Lap-2 by Jeffrey Herlings and Mitch Evans. With 12-minutes left on the clock, the Swiss sensation hooked a gear, passed Evans and never looked back. He finished second in convincing fashion with an 11-second advantage over the rider in third.

Race TWO…

Seewer’s rear brake caliper was damaged in a collision with Clement Desalle at turn-two. Although it was not easy to navigate the rut strewn track with no rear brake, the ‘91’ still put in a determined ride to finish eighth.

After two dramatic and mentally challenging races, Seewer was disappointed to miss the podium by 3-points but is still happy to start the 20-round series in fourth overall.

Knowing there are 38 races remaining, like Seewer was satisfied with his sixth place in the MXGP Championship Standings

The next round ft he FIM Motocross World Championship will take place next weekend in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, on the weekend on March 8th.
